                                                               Welcome to the 2024 GeoCoinFest cache page.

     This year we hope to have an event that will be fun and exciting for everyone. Fall is the   best time to visit Central New York, the trees are at peak color, the orchards are open for apple picking, the wine trails are running, and pumpkin patches and corn mazes are everywhere. Syracuse is in the very center of New York, we are one hour from the fingerlakes, two hours from Niagra Falls, two hours from the Adiorndack Mountains, and five hours from New York City. We are also ninety minutes away from the oldest geocache on the east coast GC39, the Spot with over 1500 favorites. If you want to travel a bit farther, you can visit the Eternal Flame Falls earthcache, (GC10VMY) a natural flame in a waterfall. Lab caches abound in this area as the Erie Canal Adventure Lab Trail runs right through it, as well as the caches on the hiking and biking trail that runs along the canal itself. If you have the time, you can even try the Central NY State parks challenge and pick up an extra coin.

     Cachers travelling with non cachers, don't worry, Syracuse has many shops, museums, historical sites and the eighth largest mall in the country. There is something for eveyone in Central New York. As for the event itself, we are planning the largest geocoin display ever at a Coinfest, several collectors are bringing their coins to show, along with a display dedicated to Moun10bike coins. We will also be having seminars on coin design, creating personal items, and puzzels and gadgets. (Times and speakers will be announced at a later date.) We will of course be having GeoCoin Poker after the main event as well, if you want to play (and get a free coin) post your intent with your will attend when the poker event is posted. There will be six additional side events starting on Wednesday evening, ending with a CITO on Sunday. It is possible that other local caching groups may also hold events before and after the main event.
