Midnight at the Lock - Celebrating Geocaching’s Birthday at Schleuse Petershagen
Welcome to a slightly unusual but memorable geocaching event, held at midnight, at a lock, on the very birthday of geocaching!
Time: 00:00 - 00:30.
We’ll meet just after midnight to mark the beginning of May 3rd, the day Dave Ulmer placed the first geocache, and geocaching was born. Let's not wait to celebrate this special day! In the quiet of the night, with the lock as our backdrop, we’ll celebrate this unique hobby that connects people, places, and exploration.
As the host, I bring years of experience working as a lock keeper on the Göta Canal in Sweden. Sometimes I had to work during the night, to keep the lock open. Therefore I placed this event at Schleuse Petershagen. I always like to visit a lock when I go abroad. I’d love to share stories about the Swedish locks, and Göta Canal. Perhaps some of you have been there, or want to visit?
After the event, we can take a short walk to the bridge to see the lock from above. Perhaps any of you can tell me a little more about the specfics of this lock.
Let’s chat, and celebrate geocaching’s birthday together by connecting over our joint hobby, just as the locks connect waterways. Looking forward to meet you there!
